The 2001 showing of Bang Rajan, a movie about villagers who fought against Ava, coincided with the Thai-Burma military confrontation. The complex is producing "yellow cake", an immediate material in the processing of uranium ore. The refinery is similar to the Ranger Uranium Treatment Plant in Australia. Visible smokestacks are also similar to those at the Yongbyon reactor in North Korea.
